Raja Kumar Raja Kandan
Raja Kumar was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2008. He joined Azman Davidson & Co in 2011 and became a partner in 2017.
Experience
Raja Kumar’s areas of practice includes appearing at the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court and appearing as Lead/Assistant counsel in Arbitration/Adjudication/Mediation proceedings in primarily construction related disputes as well as insurance disputes including but not limited to the following:-
- Acting as Counsel and Adjudicator in multiple adjudication proceeding under the Construction Industry Payment Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA)
- Counsel in a PAM Arbitration involving a high end local development project
- Counsel in an Arbitration involving the construction of Animal Plantation Units for the East Coast Economic Region Development Council
- Counsel in a mediation and arbitration for and on behalf of an international geo technical and civil engineering company in relation to a claim arising from the construction and development of a major development project in the KL city centre
- Counsel in an arbitration for and on behalf of a Belgian Dredging Company against a Malaysian Developer in relation to disputes arising out of construction of a reclamation project in Johor
- Counsel in an international arbitration for and on behalf of a Japanese Joint Venture Company in relation to the construction of a multilevel international hotel
- Counsel for and on behalf of a French Turbine Manufacturer in litigation with Owner’s Insurance arising from the failure of a gas turbine in a power station
- Counsel for an established hotel in Sabah in litigation and in drafting a Settlement Agreement involving a trademark dispute.
- Counsel for and on behalf of Insurers involving amongst others Contractor’s All Risk Policies
- Counsel for Insurers in litigation involving a claim for damages arising from a collapsed Retaining Concrete Wall and damage to an adjoining Reinforced Earth Wall in a local development project
- Counsel in a defamation suit for and on behalf of a Belgian Dredging Company against a Malaysian Developer
- Counsel acting in quasi criminal matters pertaining to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994
- Involved in criminal litigation including criminal suits involving drug offences, immigration matters, AMLA (the Anti Money Laundering Act), amongst others
